10:15 am - J. Chris Weatherly - FBI

CJIS - What you need to know! The Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) security policy has been updated to improve the security of criminal justice data. The changes include stricter access controls, more robust data protection, and enhanced incident response protocols.

11:15 am - Larry Gunderson City of St. Charles

GMIS Accreditation: GMIS Accreditation provides a framework to validate that an organization’s IT processes and practices meet the requirements of an objective, peer-reviewed, standards-based program that has been approved by GMIS International, the largest professional organization for public sector IT leaders in the US. By demonstrating that baseline standards are met in the core areas of Strategy, Operations, Security, Governance and Continuous Improvement, public sector IT organizations will:

• Be able to communicate with executive leadership using a consistent framework,

• Provide reasonable assurance that risks are appropriately managed,

• Ensure foundational best practices are in place,

• Enable strategic alignment with enterprise goals, and

• Be recognized for the valuable services that they provide.

GMIS members should attend this session to find out about the GMIS Accreditation program requirements, technology platform, and assessment process. The framework has been migrated to a new platform that is available to all GMIS members, so this is a great opportunity to learn how to become an early adopter and to validate your organization’s IT program.
