Presenter Bio: Jay Kozak is an IT Veteran, working in the industry for over 30 years. Starting as a Unix Adm for Motorola, he moved into Solutions and Engineering roles with Oracle, Netapp and EMC. Today Jay is an engineer for Pure Storage, focusing solely on the public sector, helping customers find solutions for the ever challenging and evolving data management platform.
When I started in technology 30 years ago, I was excited about new technology for the pure (no pun intended) technology perspective. Now I get excited about the impact technology enables in all aspects of life. I'm passionately curious, love to work with my hands, scuba, ski, bike, barefoot and recently rekindled motocross riding. Though not an adrenaline rush, I've become fanatical about pickleball. My greatest success in life is my family - Tracey, my wife of 30+ years and my four adult kids.
10:15 am - Glen Liljeberg - Village of Westmont
AV In the boardroom and beyond: The use of media in our facilities has grown continuously since the introduction of the internet. Initially with T-1 lines for distance learning to gigabit fiber and multi-gigabit LANs. Attend this session to learn about the newest technologies from Dante, NDI, SRT, and SMPTE 2110 and how you can leverage them in your next AV project or improve your current AV deployment. We will also have an option for Q&A to discuss specific questions that you may have regarding your current environment.
Presenter Bio: As the Director of Information Technology at Village of Westmont, I oversee the network infrastructure village wide for all departments, including Village Hall, Fire, Police, Public Works, and Library. I have successfully managed the village's computer network, video, audio, CCTV, video production, and telephone technologies, as well as managed two ERP project and implementations. I also provide project management for all technology-related projects, including several new building construction projects, and manage all technical employees and village-wide contractors.
With experience in technology, higher education, and leadership since 1985, I have a unique set of skills that combines video engineering, video production, computer networking, system design and installation, and multimedia. I am the founder and president of SunCom.TV, a pioneer in live video streaming services that produces numerous live events each year for local governments, K-12 school districts, and colleges. I am also an active Board member in GMIS Illinois and a proud recipient of the GMIS Val Andres Award, a prestigious honor for governmental IT personnel who promote the GMIS organization and its goals. My mission is to build bridges between technology and business, with an emphasis on continually improving the human condition.

Zero Trust: Trust No One: We live in a scary world. Security incidents are nearly a daily occurrence. Combatting this doesn’t require specific products. It requires a mindset change. In this session we’ll discuss Zero Trust, and how that specifically applies to Data Resiliency. Learn steps you can take to be ready for the next disaster!
